SMS Terms

CarePal is a money manager you text, run by Oak Bay Technologies. These terms cover the messages CarePal sends you over iMessage (and SMS, where we offer it). They're part of our Terms of Service, and our Privacy policy explains how we handle your number and messages.
How you sign up
You agree to get messages from CarePal when you enter your number on our website and tap Join the waitlist, or when you text CarePal first (for example, "hey CarePal"). Agreeing to get texts isn't a condition of buying anything.
While you're on the waitlist
CarePal is invite only. While you wait, CarePal sends you very little:
- One reply to your first text, saying you're on the list and that CarePal won't be able to respond until a spot opens.
- Nothing after that, until a spot opens for you. CarePal doesn't answer other messages while you wait, including HELP. For help, email hello@getmotis.com.
- One text when a spot opens, with a link to finish signing up.
Once you're in
CarePal texts you about what you've asked it to do and what you've connected. For example:
- replies to your messages;
- updates on tasks CarePal is working on, like a charge it's disputing or a subscription it's cancelling;
- requests for your approval, including before any payment or transfer;
- alerts you've set up or turned on, like credit changes, spending limits or a money workflow;
- reminders you set, and messages about your account.
CarePal doesn't send marketing texts.
How often
On the waitlist, at most one reply and one text when your spot opens. After that, how often depends on what you ask CarePal to do. By default, non-urgent messages wait until morning in your time zone.
Cost
CarePal doesn't charge for texts. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.
Stopping and help
- Text STOP at any time to stop all messages. Once you're in, you'll get one message confirming it, and nothing after that. On the waitlist, CarePal stops without replying.
- Text START to turn messages back on.
- Text HELP for help once you're in. On the waitlist, or anytime, you can email hello@getmotis.com.
Your number
We never sell your phone number, and we never share it, or your agreement to get texts, with anyone for their marketing. CarePal shares your number with the services that deliver its messages (like Photon), and with others only when you ask for something that needs it, as described in our Privacy policy.
Carriers
Mobile carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
